Anyone going to MacWorld Tuesday or Wednesday?
"Don't touch it, kick it, or lick it" the MoMA employee nonchalantly stated as we waited in line to see the frozen BMW.
When my friend told me about the frozen hydrogen-powered race car at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, I had to see it myself. This is the last week Olafur Eliasson's design for BMW's Art Cars will be on exhibit, so catch it before it melts...literally.
Olafur Eliasson's Take Your Time exhibit bent my notions of reality and art so much that, when faced with reality at the end of the exhibit, I hardly could tell the difference. This is interactive art at its best, with misters, blankets, kaleidoscopes, giant cheese graters, and planks of wood to jump on...just don't jump too hard or the staff will kindly remind you how to place one's weight on the boards properly.
Perhaps I'm too much of a pragmatist to enjoy the frozen BMW hydrogen car. All I could think about while people ooh'd and aah'd at the frozen sports car was, "What a waste...I want to drive it".
